Mohamed S.
Alhammadi, a U.A.E. national, joined Kalbian Hagerty in
2005. After working at our headquarters in Washington,
D.C., Mr. Alhammadi was seconded to our branch office in Abu
Dhabi. Mr. Alhammadi is a Legal Consultant with our Middle
East/North Africa Practice Group.
Mr.
Alhammadi assists our attorneys in providing legal counsel
to Emirati companies and institutions on business law issues
confronting their daily operations. Such issues include the
evaluation of investment opportunities in the Gulf. He also
assists with advising clients regarding U.A.E. laws
applicable to choice of legal entity (including free zone
entity formation), mergers and acquisitions, private
placements and related securities matters, investment
banking transactions, exit strategy development and
implementation, and "best practices" policies and
implementation company-wide.
While
working at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, Mr. Alhammadi
worked on a broad variety of legal matters including but not
limited to commercial transactions and contracts, Foreign
Sovereign Immunities Act issues, criminal law and employment
law.
Prior to
joining our Firm, Mr. Alhammadi worked at the U.A.E.
Ministry of Justice, Legislation and Governmental Disputes
Department, reviewing proposed statutes and laws and
representing the U.A.E. government in cases before the U.A.E.
Supreme Court and Appellate Courts.
Mr.
Alhammadi is a Doctoral candidate for the Science of Juris
Doctor (S.J.D.) degree at Georgetown University Law Center,
Washington, D.C., the highest degree a lawyer can achieve.
In May 2005, he received his Masters of Law degree (L.L.M.),
graduating with Honors from Valparaiso University School of
Law, Indiana, specializing in Criminal law and International
Human Rights. In 1998, Mr. Alhammadi received his Bachelor
of Arts degree (B.A.) from the United Arab Emirates
University in Sharia and Secular Law, graduating cum laude
and was awarded the University’s Excellence Award and the
Rashid Honor Award for
graduating first in his Class. He also obtained his
Judicial Certificate from the Judicial Training and Studies
Institute in Abu Dhabi in 1998.
