Litigation
Mary Baker is a partner with the firm. Her practice emphasis
is civil litigation, including commercial and business
litigation, employment litigation, intellectual property
and trademark litigation, commercial bankruptcy, landlord-tenant
disputes, as well as some personal injury work. Ms. Baker
represents clients in various federal courts, as well as
state courts in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Baker graduated from Georgetown University Law Center
(cum laude) in 1990 and from Clemson University (summa
cum laude) in 1987.

- Won a $5.4M verdict as lead counsel for a successful
NOVA IT company in a trade secrets theft case in
the U.S. District
Court for the Eastern District of Virginia;
- Secured a
multi-million dollar settlement in a real property
dispute in Loudon County, Virginia (Loudon County
Circuit
Court);
- Won a directed verdict on behalf of defendant
foreign embassy in dispute over real property in
the District of Columbia;
- Successfully defended defendant-employee
in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia
in trade secret-breach
of fiduciary duty case;
- Served as second chair and
chief author of all legal briefs in successful appeal
to Fourth Circuit in commercial
case regarding bankruptcy, partnership and contract interpretation
issues;
- Secured summary judgment on behalf of
defendant employer (school district) in employment
discrimination case.
