Mark B. (“Chipp”) Sandground, Jr. has held
a variety of legal and business positions including working
for the majority staff of the Senate Foreign Relation’s
Committee as well as development positions at the Trammell
Crow Company and for Euro Disney in Paris France.
After a break from practicing law during which he worked
on real estate projects in suburban Maryland and pursued
his passion for screenwriting, Mr. Sandground joined a
law firm that provided “in-house” counsel for
a major federally-chartered non-profit corporation based
in Washington, D.C. Currently, his corporate/litigation
practice involves representing small businesses (primarily
restaurants), real estate investors and non-profit entities.
Because of his varied background in the real estate business,
Mr. Sandground has a thorough understanding of development
issues including negotiating joint venture transactions,
entitlement procedures, tax-free exchanges, and sales and
leasing agreements for retail and commercial matters.
Mr. Sandground has also developed an expertise in the
area of “restaurant law” providing chef/proprietors
as well as hospitality companies with advice on all aspects
of their businesses including entity formation issues,
equity/debt financing, book publishing/name licensing,
trademark, employment agreements, and related real estate
matters. He has represented a number of the country’s
finest chefs and restaurateurs including Michel Richard,
Robert Wiedmaier, José Martinez and the late Jean-Louis
Palladin.
Mr. Sandground is member of the Virginia Bar and the
District of Columbia Bar, a graduate of Stanford University,
the University of Virginia Law School and UCLA Business
School. He also attended the Institut Supérieur des Affaires
outside Paris and speaks fluent French.
